Who Are You for? Who Are You Against?

I took this picture before the big game.  In my opinion, sports are more fun when you root for one team and against the other team (Go Chiefs!), but that’s a horrible way to live everyday life!

Very few people get saved because they hate sin as much as we do, but a lot of people come to agree that their sin is wrong, repent, and get saved because Jesus loves them and is for them. Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus died for us despite having every reason in the universe to be against us, and we can choose to be for them and not just against their sin as well.

It’s way too easy for us to focus on what we are against and to send a message that we are against people, not just their sin. But Luke 19:10 says, “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” And Jesus said that to Zacchaeus, a sinful thief most people hated, a sinful man who got saved that day and is in heaven right now. He just needed someone to be for him, and so do we!

Even after being saved, very few people reach their full potential in their walk with Jesus until someone believes in them. I’m glad Jesus sees who we can become with His help! I’m also thankful for every person who’s supported me in my Christian journey because I’d have a hard time growing without help and support.

Jesus knows that His grace and mercy are big enough to turn anyone into His son or daughter and then see them do amazing things to impact eternity. I hope we’ll each take time to help others come to Jesus and then reach their full potential as Christians.
