I’m not saying everything bad that happens to us is our fault…but sometimes it is! Most superstitions don’t make much sense, but some of them just seem like good advice! If we walk under ladders, we might get hurt, especially if that ladder has stuff on it (or if you’re clumsy and trip a lot like me!😬).
Proverbs 12:15 says, “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.” A lot of bad things have nothing to do with our choices, but some of them do. Bad choices will always lead to bad results, so when we run into problems, we can either assume we’re doing right or take the time to make sure we aren’t causing the issues.
We can get upset about our “bad luck” or take a look at our decisions and see if they’re the source of our issues. Always a great place to start. We should be willing to pray, like David did, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalms 139:23-24).
