We’ve had some beautiful sunrises lately! Light always has those colors in it, but they usually stay blended in. It’s amazing when the red gets to shine bright.
The Bible is full of people who had talent and opportunity. Some used what they had to shine bright for God; others just tried to please themselves. Judges 14:5-7 tells a sad story about a man who used his amazing gift mostly for himself: “Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him. 6 And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done. 7 And he went down, and talked with the woman; and she pleased Samson well.” Samson only cared about getting to marry this ungodly woman, and even miraculously tearing a lion apart wasn’t enough to make him check his motives. The ability and opportunities were there, but Samson never shined for God the way he could have.
If Jesus is your Savior, you have at least one spiritual gift (check out Ephesians 4 and u1 Corinthians 12) as well as God-given talents, purpose, and opportunities. Let’s use everything we’ve got to shine for God today.
