CLEARANCE! Who doesn’t love a good sale? But I don’t think this one is a GOOD sale! A lot of things sound good until we look closer, and the stakes get a lot higher than 20 cents! The saying is true that not everything that glitters is gold, and it’s also true that fake wisdom, the world’s wisdom apart from God, is no wisdom at all. It might sound like the best way, the easy way, but it’ll cost you in the end.
We need God’s wisdom, advice, and direction for our decisions and daily lives, and it’s ours for the asking. James 1:5 says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” The chapter makes it clear that we need to ask in faith, but if we do, God loves to give us His wisdom.
When’s the last time you asked God what He thought before making a decision? If it’s been a while, you’re missing out. Falling for a “fake sale” at a store would be bad enough, but falling for a fake version of God’s plan would be tragic.
