Saw this the other day in Washington DC. It would be a little weird to actually be able to pay with Mastercard, Visa, SD cards, and even batteries!š³ I realize what the sign means, but it might be fun to pay for things with whatever we choose. Thatās definitely not how it works with life-choices though.
Deuteronomy 30:15 says, āSee, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil.ā The Israelites could choose which way they went, but they couldnāt choose the consequences. The same is true for us.
Right choices often lead to hard roads. The Israelitesā choice and ours is between right and wrong, not ease and difficulty. Weāre after something much bigger and better than temporary rewards that are gone tomorrow. We canāt always avoid difficulty, but we can do right despite difficulty. Sometimes itās in big moments, big decisions that shape our whole lives. Other times itās a hundred small, normal, daily decisions that shape us and can impact everyone around us. We canāt choose how we pay. We canāt choose our consequences. But we can choose to do right and let God bring the rewards.
