I got to teach Brooklyn how to play pinball for the first time! Ok, maybe that’s not really a milestone or anything, but there are just some classic games that need to stick around! She did pretty well right away, and this simple old-school game illustrates a great lesson for all of us.
Psalms 3:3-4 says, “But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. 4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice,
and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.” That word “Selah” means “pause and think about what you just read.” Let’s take time to notice the good things God does for us and thank Him!
It’s been said that gratitude is the guardian of the soul. What if every time God does something good for us and we notice and thank Him, it’s like that pinball getting popped back up a little bit? And every time we ignore what God is doing, we move down a little closer to falling into discouragement, depression, and defeat? I know life’s issues are complicated, but this is an easy way we can all help ourselves up a little bit.
