So simple, so fun! The girls each held their hand in either hot or cold water and then put their hands in the middle bowl of room-temperature water. Compared to the other bowls, that water felt different to each of them. The water was lukewarm, but they couldn’t tell.
Revelation 3:16 says, “So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” Being spiritually lukewarm is a big problem for us today just like it was for that church back then. We should be hot spiritually, fired up in our faith and relationship with God, and if we’ve become spiritually cold, we should at least notice and fix the problem.
Maybe the biggest danger comes when we can’t even tell when we’ve become spiritually lukewarm, when lukewarm starts to feel hot. Do we notice when we’ve become comfortable in the middle, just kinda “meh” spiritually?
How’s your faith? Is your relationship with God what it should be, or is it just ok? Are you doing right or just doing a little better than the people around you? Instead of calling a lukewarm relationship good, let’s ask God to show us any parts of our lives that we need to get fired up about and improve.
