Ever poured yourself a cup, taken a big sip, and then realized you needed to chew your coffee (or spit it out) because of all the grounds in it? Nasty! Coffee’s good when it’s in the right place, and that’s true of most things.
Proverbs 26:1 says, “As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool.” Just like coffee grounds in a cup of coffee, snow doesn’t belong in summer, and rain is no help at harvest time. Honoring someone for doing wrong is just wrong and encourages them to do more wrong.
Let’s be more focused on DOING RIGHT than being recognized. Let’s live lives worthy of honor…and then wait for God to bring just the right honor at just the right time.
