Don’t Let the Pressure Suck You in

I’ve always wanted to try this! I honestly didn’t realize that you had to use hard-boiled eggs to suck an egg into a bottle! It was a family effort and we got it to work eventually. The fire changes the pressure inside and basically creates a vacuum in the bottle that sucks the egg in.

It was mathematician Blaise Pascal that first said “There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of each man which cannot be satisfied by any created thing but only by God the Creator, made know through Jesus Christ.” Whether you’re a math nerd like me or not, that’s good advice!

Wrong influences try to “suck us in” and get us to fill our lives with worthless or even harmful things. That God-sized hole creates a vacuum, an emptiness and need in our hearts and lives. We should constantly fill it with God or we’ll constantly be tempted to fill it with all the wrong stuff that can never truly satisfy our needs.

In John, Jesus took the time to talk to a sinful woman (often known as the woman at the well). Verses 13-14 say, “Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” Thankfully she chose the only source of eternal satisfaction, the only way to be genuinely filled: She chose Jesus as her Savior. Have you? If so, do you choose Jesus as the meaning and fulfillment of your daily life?
