Balloon powered rocket! We had fun pumping up the balloon and watching the air power the toy rocket. More air meant more power, and the rocket went nowhere while empty. If only we’d recognize that the same thing is true for us spiritually! Instead of going through our days empty, let’s allow God to fill us.
A balloon has to be empty to be able to get filled with the right stuff. Romans 12:2 challenges us to “be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,” If I put water in that balloon instead of air, the rocket won’t go very far. It’s needs the right stuff inside. What’s your mind filled with? Are you more influenced by the Bible or social media? By your opinion, your friends’ opinions, or God’s opinion?
If you’re feeling a little bit like a deflated balloon, spend some extra time getting “pumped back up” by the Holy Spirit today. For me personally, the Psalms have been a HUGE encouragement lately. Maybe some extra time with God is just what you need right now.
