Brooklyn really wanted some of this yummy-looking snack…until I told her it was dog treats! It sounded like a good idea, but once she realized what it really was, she was content to just give our dog Bella a treat and move on.
I’m sure we’ve all had ideas that we thought sounded great…but they weren’t! And a lot of choices have much more serious consequences than accidentally eating a dog treat! Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man,
but the end thereof are the ways of death.” They say hindsight is 20/20. In other words, it’s often easier to see what we should have chosen after we see how our choices turn out. Have you ever wished you could take what you know now and go back several years and redo some decisions? Thankfully, God’s Word offers us a ton of wisdom and help to make the right choices the first time.
King Solomon went on a search for purpose and meaning in life. He basically tried it all and came to this conclusion: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13). Let’s save ourselves some trouble, skip to the end, and just follow God‘s plan instead of doing whatever sounds good to us in the moment.
