Brooklyn couldn’t wait to get home and give me this donut “because you love BASEBALL!” She meant football, but I didn’t have the heart to correct her. Her sweetness and generosity were what mattered, not that she used the wrong word.
It’s that way with God. We have a real God that meets real needs, and our heart means more when we pray than our exact words. Romans 8:26 says, “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
Prayer isn’t about saying the right thing; it’s about talking to the One Who knows us best and loves us perfectly. The inside of a donut matters more than it’s shape (at least to me) and the heart of our prayers matters more to God than the exact wording.
It’s not about having the perfect things to say; it’s about spending time talking with the One Who’s forgiven us of all our sins, cares deeply about everything we wanna pray to Him about, and is eager to hear from us.
