Looks like a tie overall! The girls’ ballet has definitely helped them learn how to stand on their tiptoes well. I’m just glad they didn’t actually try to lift themselves up on the oven…might not have ended well!
How high can you lift yourself up? It turns out that in life, the higher we try to lift ourselves up, the lower we get. Luke 18:14 says, “Every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”
But that doesn’t mean there’s no reward for doing right. It just means we shouldn’t be the one to “toot our own horn” and brag about ourselves or push for recognition. Proverbs 27:2 says, “Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.”
But what if no one ever notices or says anything? James 4:10 says, “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” And we can guarantee that God will do a great job of it. So let’s keep doing right and not focus on convincing people that we are right.
