It’s Not Even Real! Don’t Be Afraid of Fake Stuff!

dog scared of a toy cat

Poor Bella! She’ll chase hawks and helicopters, jets, people, and unfortunately even a skunk the other day🤢, but a toy cat with a weird fake meow is just too scary! 😆

So much of what we worry about won’t ever happen, and a lot of our fears aren’t any more real  than that fake cat. But even the real fears we have to face are nothing compared to God’s power.

Psalms 46:1-3 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.” Some of those “fears” were definitely not going to happen, but it’s clear: No matter what might happen around us, we don’t have to give in to fear as long as God is with us.

We can either spend our time being afraid and worried about things that might never happen, or we can spend our time trusting God Who is always good, always in control, and always with us.

Proverbs 29:25 describes a common fear and its solution: “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.” People might do us wrong, and they might not, but God is DEFINITELY trustworthy. Instead of worrying about other people’s opinions of us, let’s focus on what God says about us today.

Remembering what IS true can drive out the fear of what MIGHT be true.
