My wife Jen enjoys staying active and keeping track of her progress on her Apple Watch…but after most of the day, it seemed like her work was wasted when the watch failed to register her progress. In times like this it’s easy to think our efforts did no good because they weren’t recognized (even by a watch!), but Jen’s work wasn’t wasted—EVEN IF IT WASN’T NOTICED.
Matthew 6:5-6 says, “And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” When you pray or do anything good but don’t get noticed, remember that God sees you and offers a way better reward than people ever could. Instead of working to impress people, let’s live to please God.
