It’s not every day that your garden gets watched over by a couple of cowgirls! π OK Brooklyn’s riding a dragon and Addison’s riding a unicorn so maybe “cowgirls” isn’t the right wordπ€. They don’t often decide to strap these on and “ride,” but when they do get back in the saddle, it’s a lot of fun!
Getting back in the saddle with a fun toy is one thing, but getting back in the saddle and moving forward after we mess up can be more difficult…and WAY more important. Thankfully God loves to help us get back up when we fall.
In Genesis, Cain had messed up. He disobeyed God‘s leading and had to watch as his sacrifice was rejected but his brother Abel’s was accepted. What happens next makes all the difference.
While God couldn’t approve of Cain’s wrong attitude and actions, He never rejected Cain and instead wanted Cain to get back in the saddle and do right. Genesis 4:7 says, “If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted?”
God gave him another chance, another opportunity to get busy doing right, but unfortunately Cain’s response ruined that opportunity as he went on to commit more sin instead.
Let’s never let sin keep us on the sidelines or allow setbacks to stop us. We aren’t perfect and will make mistakes, but when we do, God wants to help us get back in the saddle. Satan and our own guilt will push us down and try to completely defeat us, but God loves to help us get up and get back to doing good stuff for Him.
