This question always amazes me! The $1 million seems like the obvious choice…until you realize the penny doubling each day for a month offers you a total of almost $11 million! When you fully understand the options, it’s easier to make the right choice.
The Bible offers us some clear choices as well. Matthew 5:30 is one of the strangest sounding verses in the Bible, but it has an amazing truth: “And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.” Jesus isn’t telling us to cut off body parts, but nothing is more important than your soul and your eternal destiny. Accepting Jesus as your Savior may cost you some friends and it may cost you some temporary fun, but that’s nothing compared to the cost of spending all eternity separated from Jesus in a real place called hell.
There are only 2 choices: Jesus or anything else. Don’t let anything stop you from coming to Jesus for salvation. He’s paid the price for your sins by dying on the cross for all the wrongs we’ve ever done. He rose again and offers salvation and a home in heaven one day to everyone who will trust in Him.
If you’re a Christian, never let anything become more important than Jesus and never let anything come between you and your Savior. I love this quote: “Only two choices on the shelf: pleasing God or pleasing self.” The choice to follow Jesus isn’t always easy but it’s always worth it.
