Awesome storm yesterday! We were outside and barely got a drop of rain, but as you can see, just across the way got pounded! It was amazing to see the cloud and rain reach down to the ground!
I think this picture sums up what a lot of people think it looks like when God reaches down to us from Heaven: nothing but scary storms as we’re judged without mercy. But here’s what it actually looks like: “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). Jesus came from Heaven with grace and compassion for us and offered the only true hope of salvation from our sin.
Jesus came with truth and never once said sin is ok, but He lovingly faced the awful consequences of sin for us and understands the horror of our sin even more than we do. His attitude toward you might be different than you think.
If you’ve never accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, He’s reaching down with an offer of salvation. 2 Peter 3:9 says that God is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” He won’t ever force anyone to get saved, but He wants EVERYONE to come to Him for salvation.
If you’ve accepted Jesus’ offer of salvation but you’ve recently fallen into sin, He’s still your Savior and is reaching down to help you get back up. 1 John 2:1 describes Jesus as our “advocate with the Father.” Jesus wants to restore us to a right relationship when we sin. That’s forgiveness and help that I for one need often!
Crazy rain clouds are fun, but when Heaven reaches down, it’s Jesus offering to help us to be right where we belong: in His family enjoying the life He has for us. For more daily encouragement, SUBSCRIBING HERE to get daily encouragement emailed to you.
