Phones sure have come a long way! I know how to use a rotary phone like that one, but I definitely like my iPhone better! Before telephones, the telegraph was an amazing leap forward in the ability to communicate messages over a distance, and Samuel Morse picked the first message ever sent by telegraph: “What hath God wrought?” In other words, look what GOD has done. He gave credit to the One Who enabled him to develop the use of the telegraph and Morse code, and the quote actually comes from the Bible.
In the book of Numbers, an evil foreign king called for Balaam to curse Israel. Balaam was willing to come along but would speak the truth. Check out what Balaam said in Numbers 23:23: “Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!” It was no mystery how Israel found success and blessing: God did it!
When someone looks at your life or mine, do they think, “Look what God has done” or “Look what a mess they’ve made without God”? Let’s let God have control over our lives every day. Anything we can do on our own part from God isn’t worth doing.
