Things Aren’t So Scary When You Realize They’re Empty

Our vacation Bible school is off to a great start this year, but Brooklyn is still scared of the mascots. She knows and loves the ladies who are in the costumes, but there’s just something about a mascot that seems creepy to her. Thankfully when it’s just a suit she will take a look and see that empty things just aren’t as scary.

Romans 6:12 says that because of the freedom Jesus gives us from the power of sin we should “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.” Verse 14 says, “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” The power of sin becomes empty when Jesus sets us free! As Christians, we won’t be perfect, but we can always defeat sin and temptation through Jesus and the freedom He’s given us. We don’t have to let empty threats scare us. We can have victory over anything wrong that we’ve been doing, saying, or thinking.
