Luck Has Nothing to Do with It

Maybe you’re not superstitious…but are you a little bit stitious??? I couldn’t find any black cats or broken mirrors, but I have seen someone order more at a restaurant when their total came to $6.66! Some of these things can be fun and silly, but in the end luck doesn’t control what happens to us.

We don’t need luck: we need God. At the beginning of 1 Samuel, everyone was doing whatever they decided was right instead of obeying God. But those same people still thought God would help them in battle if they could simply bring in the ark of the covenant, a symbol of the very God they were so busy rejecting.

1 Samuel 4:5 says, “And when the ark of the covenant of the LORD came into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth rang again.” They thought the power was in the box like some good luck charm, but God is way bigger than that.

If we try to control God or trick Him into blessing us even though we are living our own way, It. Won’t. Work.  It’s much better to seek GOD more than anything He can give us, to go after His best, not just what WE think we need.

So instead of getting a lucky rabbit’s foot or knocking on wood, let’s trust God and follow the plan He has for us today.
