Jack of All Trades, Master of None?

No, Brooklyn doesn’t get to drive the zero turn even though she probably wants to! As a youth pastor I get to work in a lot of different areas of life and ministry, and Brooklyn helped me show some of the different “hats” I get to wear. From mowing to preparing Sunday school lessons to ministry through technology and media, and even leading a fun game of ultimate frisbee the other day in our teen service, I enjoy the variety of opportunities I have, especially ministry with my own family. It would probably be hard for me to do the same thing all day every day, no matter what it was.

Whether you like to multitask or focus on one thing at a time, we all have responsibilities, things we get to do for God, and what matters most is that we actually do those things FOR GOD.

Colossians 3:23 says, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” We should do what we do for the approval of God, not the approval of people around us. His opinion should matter most of all. Whatever God is calling you to do, do it “heartily.” Let God decide your to-do list and then give it everything you’ve got as He gives you strength.

Whether you’re a “jack of all trades,” a master of one job, or just trying to make a difference in the lives of people around you, do what you do for God.
