Something Changed!

This was a great Christmas present the girls got. Once spring arrived, we got the caterpillars in the mail and watched them change into chrysalises and then into butterflies! The change is undeniable (and memorable for the girls!).

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

At the moment you accept Jesus as Savior, you are permanently made new as a child of God.

At salvation we do NOT become perfect and somehow ALWAYS live in our new nature though. I’ve never seen a butterfly try to turn back into a caterpillar, but as Christians we all have to battle the temptation to live in our old nature instead of our new one. Thankfully when Jesus changes you He gives you the ability and help to live each day as the new you.

Once we are saved, we always CAN live according to our new heart and we “should walk in newness of life” as Romans 6:4 challenges us. After all, this change is way more than a physical metamorphosis because God actually gives us a new spiritual heart and helps us become more and more like Jesus.
