Think I Can Move That Rock?

Think I can pick it up and throw it? No, not that big boulder, the small rock in front of it! 😏 What if you saw me lift heavier and heavier rocks building up to one just a few pounds lighter than that boulder? Would you trust me that I could lift the big one then?

Obviously I couldn’t even budge that boulder, but with God, there’s no question that He has the ability to do any amount of “heavy lifting” needed in our lives. But sometimes it’s hard to trust Him for the big stuff if we haven’t already noticed how He helps us every day with smaller stuff.

In Mark 9, a man comes to Jesus for help with his demon-possessed son. Mark 9:23-24 says, “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. 24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” The man’s faith was in the right Person, and Jesus responds by helping.

Matthew tells us that Jesus afterward explained to His disciples, “If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you” (Matthew 17:20). WHO our faith is in matters more than the size of our faith. If we keep trusting Jesus, He will help grow our faith stronger. And if you’ve never placed your faith in Him for your salvation, it’s the best decision you could ever make!

When you’re struggling, remember all the heavy lifting Jesus has already done for you. Maybe I could never build up enough strength to lift that boulder, but we can all develop enough faith in our Savior that we trust Him whatever comes our way, big or small.
