How Close Can You Get?

Believe it or not, our cat doesn’t usually even want to go outside. Boots is very content to be an indoor cat, but he does like to get as close as he can to the outdoors and watch it.

That may be a fun way for a cat to get a taste of the outdoors, but it’s a horrible way for us to treat sin. 2 Timothy 2:22 tells us to “Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” We should never see how close we can get to sinning without actually sinning but instead should run away from sin and temptation. Let’s be willing to do what it takes to make it easier to do right and more difficult to do wrong.

One time Boots actually did get out because he was laying in the windowsill right beside a hole in the screen.  He immediately ran around to the side door and was eager to come back inside. I’m glad he knew where to come back to.

Let’s get busy running after God and the amazing things He has for our lives today, and when we mess up, let’s always run right back to Him.
