Brooklyn was VERY excited to go up against me in bumper cars at the trampoline park yesterday! She is always full throttle, full speed ahead, and this was no exception. Jen, Addison, and the teens had fun too but with less-intense expressions on their faces! We have always loved that Brooklyn is all out all the time and always want to make sure she goes in the right direction with that energy.
Passion and enthusiasm are good things…as long as they’re directed the right way. In Mark 12:29-31, Jesus explains that “The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” God created us to be passionate people and wants us to give life everything we’ve got. But He wants that enthusiasm and effort to be aimed in the right direction. Let’s take time every day to make sure we’re giving everything we’ve got to the One Who gave us everything we have!
By the way, that first commandment Jesus mentioned will always lead to the second one. If we love God we‘ll love the people He loves (which is everyone!). The next time you’re struggling to treat those around you the way you know you should, take the time to hop on a bumper car and take out some frustration or go find some other positive outlet and then get busy giving God and others everything you’ve got!
