A Fun Eggs-periment: Different Eggs with the Same Goal

None of those eggs can even balance the plate by themselves, but the four of them together can easily hold up the 5 pound bag of flour even though the eggs weigh only half a pound combined. Just like us, they are simply better together and need each other’s help to accomplish something bigger than themselves.

In Exodus 17, the Israelites were facing a battle, and God chose to use teamwork in an amazing way. Verses 11-12 say, “And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.” Joshua and the soldiers on the battlefield needed to fight and Moses, Aaron, and Hur did their part to hold up Moses’ rod and arms. What a great reminder that we all need help from God and each other to accomplish things that really matter. It’s a shame that cultural and ethnic differences often destroy that teamwork instead of building something even better.

I love the simple reminder from these different-colored eggs. It wasn’t about what color they were but about the fact that they can’t hold it all alone. The Bible does a masterful job describing what really matters by showing that we are all of one blood and all of Adam’s race. We all need salvation through faith in Jesus, and we all need help from each other as we live for God. It would’ve been a very different battle for the Israelites if Moses, Aaron, and Hur had not worked together, and what a different world it can be if we will all work together, helping each other accomplish the purposes God put us here to do.
