Strong Shelter

Wow! That was a big thunderstorm that rolled through yesterday! This canopy was already ripping, but the strong winds pretty much finished it off. The girls had fun trying to hold it together and have it cover them, but it’s definitely not a very strong shelter.

Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” While this playground canopy can’t provide much shelter or protection, our God definitely can! That means we don’t have to struggle through life on our own, desperately searching for some shelter that will end up failing us in the end.

That also means we don’t have to go through life wondering if God is able to protect us. I know some doubt God and His Word, but the closer you look, the more obvious it becomes: God is the Creator Who holds the entire universe AND individual lives together. He has a plan for your life, and you don’t want to miss it!

Religion has been called “the opium of the people” but no drug can change lives the way Jesus has.

Some see Christianity as nothing more than a crutch for the weak, but our God doesn’t help us limp through life but instead offers us abundant life with joy and hope even during difficulty.

The closer you look at that playground canopy, the more you’ll realize that it would let you down and never be strong enough to protect you, but the closer you look at God and what the Bible says about Him, the more you’ll see that He is the only shelter strong enough to protect us, the only One worthy of our worship. He is our strong tower!
