I love Christian music! Classic hymns and many newer songs capture Biblical truth so well and draw our hearts and minds to our Savior.
The entire hymn “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” is excellent, but if you stop after the first verse, it sounds like the devil is winning!
Ever feel like that in your life? Even Jesus went through many ups and downs, easy times and times that no doubt left Him feeling defeated.
Luke 19:45-46 says, “And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought; saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.”
That was a bold stand for the truth, a win in so many ways, but probably discouraging because even the temple had become a place influenced by sin and selfishness.
Until we get to heaven, there will be highs and lows, an enemy to overcome, but also our Savior Who is stronger.
It might seem like the devil is winning, like there’s no hope. But we’ve probably all read the end of the book (the Bible): Jesus wins! And because of that, victory is possible every day.
