Who we are won’t keep us from sinning, but Whose we are sure can

Brooklyn has an ear infection. She got medicine, got past the fever, and started feeling completely better. But she still has about a week left on the antibiotic to make sure the infection stays gone.

It seems like it’s gone, but it takes effort to make sure it stays gone.

Luke‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬ ‭says, “Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.”

Many people thought their birth, their status and position earned them some special privilege and status. But the Bible makes it clear that the fact that they were born Jewish didn’t automatically make them right with God. They needed to be born again. They needed to trust in Jesus as their Savior.

And all of us, even if we’ve been saved for a while, need to guard ourselves against sin. Sometimes it’s a temptation we think we’ve moved past that comes back to bite us just as soon as we let our guard down.

Let’s not get over-confident and drop our guard and “stop taking the medicine.”

Who we are won’t keep us from sinning, but Whose we are sure can. So come to Jesus for salvation if you haven’t. And if Jesus is your Savior come to Him every day for the victory you need.
