Who are you trying to please?

That tub was right in front of me for a bit, but when I looked up and saw that sticker, it got my attention. It was put on by the moving company…when we moved from Texas to Virginia 8 years ago! Now we’ve moved to PA. I hate moving, but I sure hope we’re all willing to go wherever God wants us to go. I do hope we won’t need to move again, but pleasing God has to be more important than anything else to us.

‭Mark‬ ‭12‬:‭12‬ says, “And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.”

They no doubt felt convicted by what Jesus said about them, but instead of changing, they just wanted to please themselves by getting rid of Jesus.

They wanted to arrest Jesus right there, but they feared the crowd. I’m glad they didn’t go after Jesus, but fear rarely leads us anywhere good.

We need to ‭‭follow convictions not fear or the crowd.

People pleasing often leads us away from what’s right (and that includes the desire to please ourselves instead of pleasing God).
