Lightest. Amazon. Box. Ever.

When Jen picked that box up off our porch, she thought it was completely empty. I knew it was bubble wrap inside (great kids game to see who can pop all the bubbles with their feet first!), but it still felt empty to me too.

A box with nothing in it is just…empty. And when the stuff inside is mostly air, it’s not much different.

If that emptiness and lack of substance reminds you of your life, Mark 13 has a great reminder for you (it’s definitely helped me!).

Mark‬ ‭13‬:‭1‬-2 “And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here! And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”

It’s amazing to me that the guy was focused on the temple built to worship God when God was walking right beside him.

The temple was special, but a building can never be as important as the Savior because we need the Savior, not the stuff of religion.

Just after reading those verses this morning, I heard this line in a song “I don’t wanna be consumed by anything else but You, Lord.”

It’s easy to get consumed by our schedule, our routine, stress, the pursuit of success. But apart from Jesus all of those things are ultimately empty.

Let’s be consumed by Jesus today.
