Jen and I were relaxing in our living room and heard an incredibly loud crash. I hurried outside and didn’t see anything on fire or a major car accident or anything like I was expecting. It seemed too loud and late in the day to be blasting at Letterkenny (glad to explain to non-Chambersburg people!). Then I finally realized what happened: That full and frozen rain barrel had tipped over, and the ice had crashed and cracked. It can take a lot to break through something that hardened.
That shouldn’t be true for us and our hearts.
Matthew 21:3 says, “And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.”
Jesus sent a couple of His disciples to go get the donkey He would ride into Jerusalem on what we now call Palm Sunday. I’m sure Jesus had a plan to compensate the owner or get the donkey back to him, but I love the simple response the owner of the donkey would have.
Is that all it takes for us to obey: Jesus simply asking?
When it comes to following Jesus, it should be that easy to get our attention.
