Alone?
In a crowd of friends?
As much as I love preaching and teaching and spending time with people, I really recharge best alone. A little time by the fire or with a book is a blessing!
Whether we’re in front of people or not makes a big difference sometimes, but sometimes it really shouldn’t.
Matthew 6:6 says, “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”
If we won’t serve or do right in secret, we won’t serve or do right in public with the right motive and heart. Faithfulness when only God sees prepares us to be faithful in front of others
And serving God “just because” allows Him to bless us beyond the temporary.
Verses 19-20 say, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:”
