The ads will end soon, but some of the mudslinging political ads (from both sides) prove that we probably aren’t all going to get along all the time.
As much as we’d probably all love a unified country, what we can each control is the choices we make and the direction of our own individual lives. That’s the secret in many ways to a great country, and it’s definitely key to a spiritually successful life.
We think political divides are bad. Check out how divided people were back when Jesus was on earth:
John 16:20 says, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.”
Those were the responses Jesus predicted people would have when He was crucified.
And it definitely happened just like He said it would. Those who rejected Jesus were glad when He was put to death.
Whether the elections go your way or not on Tuesday, I hope we’ll each take a look at our response to Jesus. What does His death mean to you? Does it represent your hope and salvation?
We might be a nation divided, but we can keep going strong as individuals united with Christ.
