Fun way to hike if you don’t wanna walk on the middle! Just some fun on our recent hike, but sometimes you have to pick a side. Other times we need to step on in even if it’s difficult.
In Matthew 10:34-36 , Jesus says, “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.”
Many people see Jesus as loving and want to leave it at that. While that is completely true, it’s not Jesus’ only characteristic.
To get to the truth of all Jesus is, we need to stop stepping around the truth and step on into everything the Bible says about Him. Jesus isn’t telling us to fight with our family or be unnecessarily divisive, but He knew that His message of being the only way of salvation would divide people.
Yes Jesus loves everyone. That’s why He died for us all. That’s why He wants to save everyone. That’s why He made a way of forgiveness and hope for all who will come to Him.
Instead of walking around the truth, let’s step on into all that Jesus is.
It might seem easier to think that He’s only loving, but it makes an eternal difference to see that He loves us enough to not leave us in our sin but to show us the truth and offer us the hope of salvation to all who will repent and believe.
