Sometimes fake won’t work

The girls enjoy busting out the easy bake oven sometimes. They have fun and sometimes the food comes out edible. Other times it just won’t cut it.

In John 9, Jesus heals a man who had been born blind. The Pharisees wanted to discredit the miracle and stay convinced that Jesus wasn’t God.

John 9:20-22 says, “His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind: 21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself. 22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.”

The Pharisees and many others convinced themselves of a fake version of Jesus, one who couldn’t do miracles and one who was certainly not God and Savior. That version of Jesus was safe and easy to follow, no risk. They were content with that, but a fake Jesus can’t save. A fake Jesus isn’t worth serving. And a fake Jesus can’t carry us through life.

I love how the formerly blind man puts it in verse 25: “one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.”
