If you’re a sinner looking to come to church, we’d love to have you join us, not so we can celebrate our sin, but so we can celebrate our Savior and the forgiveness and hope that He offers.
Matthew 18:15 says, “Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.”
You might be familiar with the Matthew 18 principle of confronting someone who’s done wrong. Maybe you or someone you know has even reached the end of that process and been asked to leave a church for a time. Maybe the leadership followed Matthew 18’s process of confronting privately, then with another Christian, then in front of the church. Or maybe they wrongly skipped all that. The Bible makes it clear that the goal isn’t kicking someone out of church but giving them opportunities to get right.
If they refuse, that’s on them, but the goal is always restoration not condemnation.
Let’s be honest with ourselves about our own sin and help each other find forgiveness and restoration through Jesus.
