Should I base my math lesson plans on what I FEEL like teaching this week or on what’s BEST?
I feel tired after a busy Sunday, but that doesn’t have anything to do with what needs to happen.
Sometimes we just have to do the right thing even when we don’t feel like it.
Joshua 3:14-17 says, “And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people; 15 And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,) 16 That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.”
How’d they feel? Probably wet! Maybe a little confused, even nervous.
But what did they do? They obeyed and moved forward.
God not only parted the Jordan but gave them a miraculous victory over Jericho as well.
I’m sure it didn’t take long for the Israelites’ feelings to catch up as they obeyed God and moved ahead.
Sometimes all we’ll feel like doing is staying where we are and even wallowing in self pity, fear, or anger. But as we move ahead for God, our feelings will often catch up.
