 Christian arrogance is an oxymoron

They just don’t go together. As Christians, we should be quick to give all the glory to God, not try to steal the credit for ourselves.

That ladder is about the height of Goliath (illustration from VBS night 2). If you look closely, you might see the photos marking how tall Shaq and Gheorghe Muresan, the tallest player in NBA history, are. Goliath was clearly not someone that David stood a chance against on his own.

But David knew he wasn’t going to face Goliath on his own. 1 Samuel 17:45 says, “Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.”

David could’ve said, “Look at what I’m gonna do” but he knew it was all up to God.

Colossians 1:27 says, “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:”

It’s not us. It’s God.

Let’s never try to steal the credit for ourselves or start to depend on ourselves for things that only God can do.
