Our dogs will occasionally try to eat the cat’s food, but lately it’s gone the other way quite a bit!
Thankfully the dogs know they have plenty of food and don’t let it bother them.
If our dogs got angry, they might try to take back their food (or eat the cat!), but envy will drive us to take what rightfully belongs to someone else…all while believing we deserve it.
Proverbs 27:4 says, “Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?”
Many awful things are done in anger, but envy will drive us to hurt people even while we’re perfectly calm, to look them in the eyes and take what’s theirs because we’ve decided we deserve it.
There are things that should make us angry, but envy shouldn’t ever have a place in our hearts and lives.
