Where’s home?

It’s been interesting moving from Virginia to Pennsylvania. Sometimes it’s the little things that remind us of the past 7 years and make us miss our life there. We got our car tagged and inspected in PA yesterday, so I had to take off our Rockbridge County sticker. Simple thing. Small thing. But one more reminder that we no longer live in Rockbridge County. Don’t get me wrong, we love where we live now and everything God is doing. And when it comes down to it, where we live for now should never matter as much as where we’ll live for eternity.

Hebrews 11:13 and 16 talks about some great believers of the past: “These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.”

WHERE we’ll live for eternity should affect HOW we live right now.

Matthew 6:21 says, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

What are you focused on?

What are you investing in the most?

If we don’t quite “fit in” here on earth, that’s a good thing.

I miss Rockbridge County, VA, sometimes, but hopefully all the time I remember that heaven is my true eternal home.

Makes the bad things here on earth not matter as much, and makes impacting and influencing people matter so much more.
