Did you watch the eclipse? We were outside and definitely saw it get dimmer…and colder! Our neighbor gave us some of the glasses, and we did each get some glimpses. Fun to see!
But no matter how many Ninevehs this eclipse apparently crossed over, there was one time the sky darkened and it meant a whole lot more.
Luke 23:44-45 says, “And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. 45 And the sun was darkened,”
What did it mean when the sky darkened that time?
It meant Jesus was bearing our sins for us. It meant God was placing the guilt and punishment of our sins on our Savior. It meant God the Father turned His back on Jesus for that time so that we would never have to experience Him turning His back on us.
This eclipse today was fun to see. But the events surrounding that one affected all of eternity!
