I guess we already knew It’s Sugar wasn’t a health store!🤣

We got some good chuckles at the billboards in It’s Sugar while we were in NYC. Definitely not where you go to find a balanced meal! The girls each had fun picking out a *small* bag of candy.

I wonder what a spiritual balanced diet looks like. There’s probably a lot to that, but here are some quick thoughts for filling up our lives with the right, most helpful stuff.

1 Peter 2:2 says, “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”

Babies definitely notice when they’re hungry, but do we notice when our spiritual tank is running low? What do we try to fill it with?

1 Corinthians 3:2-3 says, “I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3 For ye are yet carnal:”

Milk is the basic stuff, the beginner truths that every new Christian needs and all Christians need reminded of. But meat is the deep stuff we also need to be spiritually growing and strong.

It’s often not that we aren’t smart enough to understand deep truth from Scripture. It’s often that we aren’t ready to take it in, to accept it and live it out.

Psalms 103:5 says that God is the One “Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things;”

Candy and junk food just won’t satisfy. Not really. Not for long. Physically, we are made to need better food

So what does spiritual junk food look like anyway? I think it could be trying to fill our lives with anything besides God, trying to find purpose and direction outside of Him and His Word.

I think it could also be focusing only on the Bible verses that make us feel good about ourselves and ignoring anything that convicts us and challenges us to change and grow.

Let’s make sure we fill our lives with a spiritually healthy diet.
