Dogs need a buddy…sheep need a shepherd

Cleo the puppy brings out the inner fun in Bella (11 years old). Bella does enjoy longer naps and more couch time, but they’ll both run and play (and terrorize our cat!). Bella never wanted a chew toy much…until we got a puppy! Now she enjoys taking away whatever Cleo is playing with! Dogs need a buddy; it often just works better that way. And the Bible often compares us to sheep which means we need a shepherd, a Good Shepherd in fact. Things just work better that way.

Psalm‬ ‭100‬:‭3‬ ‭says, “Know ye that the LORD he is God: It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.”

‭‭

Sheep belong with their shepherd. Doesn’t work well otherwise.

Psalm‬ ‭107‬:‭4‬-‭7‬ ‭says, “They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; They found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, Their soul fainted in them. Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, And he delivered them out of their distresses. And he led them forth by the right way, That they might go to a city of habitation.”

Rejecting our Shepherd’s leadership and provision leaves us lost, lonely, and struggling. Good thing our Good Shepherd is eager to welcome us back if we drift away.

Even better if we just follow Him every day to begin with.
