Coming back to first love

Caledonia State Park in Pennsylvania is where Jen and I had our first date and the bottom picture is by a waterfall where I proposed. We got to picnic and hike there as a family today, and the memories are special. It’s where it all began (well technically it began years before that in Florida, but that’s a long story!).

Revelation 2:4 says, “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.” That church, those people had forgotten their first love for Jesus and needed to come back to it. They were DOING a lot of good things but had neglected that first-love relationship with their Savior.

That’s so easy for us to do as well.

First love remembers where it started and also needs to realize that it’s a daily choice. Our relationship with Jesus goes all the way back to the cross where He died for us, paying the price for our sins. All the way back to the empty tomb where He rose again victorious. And all the way back to a church, a living room, or wherever you called upon Jesus to be your Savior.

First love also remembers WHY it started and lives in gratitude for it. Jesus loves us so much that He went to the cross for us.

Does your life show your gratitude?
