Is Jesus’ birth personal for you?

It’s easy to miss out on Jesus just like the Grinch missed out on Christmas. We’re having fun with our Grinch decorations this year. I love the Christmas season, but I’ve also had a lot of people comment about the origins of Christmas possibly not being what we think or Jesus maybe not being born on December 25. I’m not gonna get into all that here, but I personally don’t care if anyone skips the commercialism or doesn’t bother with a tree as long as they remember that Jesus came to earth and why Jesus came to earth. And if they want to do that every day of the year instead of just December 25, all the better.

Isaiah 9 has some amazing prophecies about the birth of Jesus. Verse 2 says, “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.”

Verses 6 and 7 say, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder:

and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom,

to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”

When Jesus came to earth, many people wanted only a political savior who would free their country. Jesus didn’t bring that kind of peace and impact back then but He did (and still does) offer peace and a changed life to every single individual who trusts in Him. I hope Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection are all personal for you.
