Addison was excited to get these ice skates for Christmas, and then of course she couldn’t wait to actually put them on and use them. Would have been a meaningless gift if she never got to skate in them.
In 1 Timothy 4:14a, the Apostle Paul encouraged Timothy by telling him, “Neglect not the gift that is in thee,”
God has blessings, but they don’t always come on the sidelines. We need to stay busy for God if we’re going to enjoy and see all of His blessings. If we don’t, it’ll be like an amazing pair of skates that sits there and collects dust.
One thing that keeps people on the sidelines is to think we know better than God.
Instead of accepting God’s wonderful plan and getting busy for Him, it’s often tempting to go a different way and to convince ourselves that there’s a better way. We’d probably never say that we know better than God, but I hope we won’t live that way either. His plan is so much better that the best we can do is jump in and get busy enjoying every opportunity and every gift He gives us.
