Stay where you can see me!

I spend a lot of time in toy sections with my girls while Jen shops for “boring” things like groceries.😏 The girls have a great time playing, and I usually have one rule: Stay where you can see me. I used to tell the girls to stay where I can see them, but that’s a little more difficult for them to be able to tell. They always know if they can see me or not.

God is everywhere and always sees us. But if we’re going to stay close to Him, we need to stay when we can see Him, where we’re close enough to Him to hear His voice. And if we’ve drifted away, we need to hurry back home.

In the parable of the prodigal son, the son took his inheritance early (caring more about money than a relationship with his dad) and left. He lived like the world until the money ran out and then finally decided to come back home to his father (who represents God). Luke 15:20 says, “And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.” I love the eagerness of the Father to welcome back this wayward son!

So how about you? Are you close enough to see the Father? Do you need to come back home?
