Caught red-handed (or red-pawed!)

What? I wasn’t sneaking treats! Our cat is usually cooperative, but this time he wanted some extra treats no matter what! Reminds me of how a lot of us respond to temptation—often seeing how close we can get without crossing the line (and usually ending up across the line after all).

Genesis 3:4-5 says “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” Sadly, Satan convinced Adam and Eve to disobey the only rule God had given them. The results were absolutely tragic, and the results of giving into temptation are tragic in our lives as well.

If Satan can get us to question God’s goodness, he can get us to do almost anything else.

Adam and Eve already knew good. Sadly, they quickly learned the effects of evil. While none of us can escape sin and temptation completely, we can say no to the things that push us away from God and His good plan for our lives.
